Virtual Library on Microcredit
Guidelines for Contributions

Criteria There are no restrictive criteria for submission of documents to the Virtual Library on Microcredit, as long as it fits in, or is related to, the overall theme of the micro/informal credit topics covered - replication, scaling up, innovations and best practices, Capacity Building for Microfinance, microcredit, community credit mobilization, informal credit markets, community participation, credit access for women, microenterprises; NGOs, community groups, people's organizations, self-help groups, credit unions, cooperatives, commercial banks, international NGOs/agencies; low-income countries, Asia, Africa, Latin America, Central and Eastern Europe ... Contributions are welcome for all sections of the homepage. Case studies and country profiles are particularly welcome.

Copyright Copyright is usualy a sticky point, and where intellectual properties need to be protected, custom messages can be included into contributed articles, including email addresses to contact the author for permission to reproduce.

Contributors are also encouraged to submit abstracts, reviews, previews or excerpts in cases where copyrights may be infringed. Notes on on-going field work are also welcome.

Formats The following electronic formats in DOS, Windows or Macintosh formats are acceptable. If you are not using one of these, or have inquiries, please contact hsrinivas@gdrc.org

  • Text:
    ASCII text, HTML [hypertext markup language], Microsoft Word, [version 3.1 or higher], WordPerfect DOS or WIN [version 5.1 or higher], RTF [rich text format].
  • Image Formats:
    GIF [graphic interchange format], JPEG [joint photographic experts group], TIFF [tag image file format], PICT [Macintosh based image format], PCX, BMP [DOS/Windows based image format]. Other formats: ART, IMG, ICO, RAS,TGA, WPG ... If you are unfamiliar with any of these formats, you can also send the images by print/post.
  • Spreadsheet/Tabular Data Formats:
    Microsoft Excel [version 3.0 or higher], Lotus 123, DBF, tab-deliminated data.
  • Print versions:
    Print versions of documents will also be accepted, though their electronic conversion may take time and the use of a scanner/OCR software.
Assistance Microfinance programmes who are interested in writing their own homepages with their ISPs or have queries regarding internet publishing, can be assisted with appropriate inputs. Please send an email to the address below.
