A Bibliography of Selected Readings in Rural Economic Development 1980 to 1993 Economic Development Bibliographic Series No. 94-01 Prepared by John S. Bishop, Jr. Dr. Ivan J. Miestchovich, Jr. The Center for Economic Development College of Business Administration University of New Orleans New Orleans, LA 70148 An EDA University Center March 16, 1994 Introduction This bibliography is a listing of publications and readings on rural economic development. It covers the time period from 1980 to 1993. Included are various books, government documents and other resources which may be helpful to community leaders. Although all attempts were made to insure an even balance between academic and professional sources, due to the subject matter, a greater number of academic sources are cited. The citations are from four different types of sources. The first includes electronic databases such as ABI INFORM, a database containing primarily business- and economic- related articles and SOCIOFILE, a sociology index. The second source includes non- electronic indexes such as Sage Urban Studies, the Journal of Planning Literature (JPL) and the Social Science Index. Both Sage and JPL cover most of the planning Literature. The Social Science Index contains the majority of all articles written and /or cited in a given year. A third source includes government publications, most of which are published by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The final source includes articles, texts and other resources which were suggested for inclusion but were not drawn from one of the above mentioned indexes. The bibliography 1980 Bradsaw, T. and E.
