Hari Srinivas

Trained as an architect and urban planner, Prof. Hari Srinivas is currently Coordinator of the Global Development Research Center in Kobe, Japan.

Before taking up his current post, he was Programme Officer for 10 years at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and Programme Associate for eight years at the United Nations University (UNU) in Tokyo. He has also served as a faculty member at 東京工業大学 (Tokyo Institute of Technology, Dept. of Social Engineering), and eight other universities in Japan and overseas.

In 2015, he was appointed as a Distinguished Adjunct Professor of the Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand.

Besides global and urban environmental issues, his research interests range from information management and rural development issues to community innovativeness, disaster management and NGO development.
