Ghana Micro-finance Institutions Network (GHAMFIN)

GHAMFIN was legally registered in August 1998. It reports that its membership consists of 70 regulated and non-regulated microfinance institutions that together are serving over 26,000 clients. Its members include institutions of different sizes and legal structures such as NGOs, cooperatives and rural banks. The network has an executive committee of 11 members, of whom two are women. It has a permanent secretariat with six paid employees, including a full-time executive director.

The mission of GHAMFIN is to coordinate and support the activities of microfinance institutions with a view to promoting the development of an efficient and sustainable microfinance industry in Ghana. Its long-term objectives are to: strengthen the capacity of MFIs through training; sensitize government and shareholders on microfinance issues; and encourage more MFIs to join the network.
